A daisy bordered plate with the impressed mark 'Dixon Co' on the reverse.

This is a shorter and wider version of the transfer for application on bowls.

I had previously assumed all these small pedestal bowls to be made by North Shields. However, the distinctive pink-lustre decoration, like the branches of a tree, is peculiar to late items c1860 from the Garrison Pottery. Compare the detail from this transfer (near right) with the Carr version below (far right). |
